Brazil international David Luiz has admitted that he is delighted after making the move to Arsenal from Chelsea this summer. The central defender made his debut against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon and he produced a quality performance as the Gunners secured a close 2-1 triumph on the day.
Luiz was a commanding presence for the Gunners on the day and he made a number of key interceptions within the box. Despite this, he did find himself in a few shaky situations at the heart of the defence and one of those permitted Ashley Barnes to score for the Clarets after he played the striker onside within the penalty box.
Arsenal have made a good start to the season with back-to-back league wins over Newcastle United and Burnley. While many would have expected the outcome, the Gunners fans would nonetheless be pleased with the beginning, considering they have not made such a start since the 2009/2010 campaign under former boss Arsene Wenger.
Meanwhile, Luiz and Sokratis seem the ideal central defensive partnership for Unai Emery going forward but there could be changes in the full-backs positions. Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Nacho Monreal have impressed on the right and left side of the backline respectively, but Emery is bound to go with the services of Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney for the roles once they reach match fitness.
