INTER BOOK FINAL DATE WITH SEVILLA

 

Inter Milan defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0 on Monday in Dusseldorf Germany. They set up a Europa League final date with Sevilla who defeated Manchester United in the other semifinal pairings. Antonio Conte’s side will now lick horn with Sevilla for the title on Friday.

Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring after 19 minutes. The 22-year-old forward heading a Nicolo Barella cross into the box past a helpless Andriy Pyatov in goal to give Inter a 1-0 advantage. The score will remain the same till the end of the first half. Although Inter continues to ask questions.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Shakhtar were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty. Alessandro Bastoni’s clearance from deep in his own area struck the arm of Roberto Gagliardini albeit unaware and the referee waved play on.

Moments later, the dramas were at the other end. Only a spectacular save from Pyatov kept Argentine international Martinez from doubling Inter’s advantage, getting his fingertips to his ambitious and goal-bound chip.

Moraes nearly equalized on the hour mark, but his point-blank header was saved by Samir Handanovic. Inter will double their lead in four minutes after the hour mark. Danilo D’Ambrosio scored after a good work from Brzovic. An assist from Romelu Lukaku led to Martinez getting his second of the game in the 74th minute. Lukaku scored twice in six minutes to add gloss to the score as he took his scoring streak in the Europa league to ten straight games.

Meanwhile, the UEFA Champions league first semifinal will take place today in Portugal. RB Leipzig will face PSG. The other semifinal will see Bayern Munich who decapitated Barcelona in the quarter final face Olympique Lyon. The Bravarian are considered the most likely to win the Champions League. They are expected to win against Lyon before a Sunday finale between either PSG or Leipzig.
